Copyright.

Along with many others I've noticed a dramatic uptick in hits on this blog, even for the most banal of posts. I'm given to understand it's down to AI bots data-mining it for material to pirate and sell for the greater glory of 'tech giant/and moral midget' corporate profits.

I doubt anything will come of this, but here goes...

I reserve to myself the copyright of ALL content on this blog, especially with regard to original photographs and written material pertaining to my hobby, which remain my intellectual property. Any usage of such content without my express written consent will be met with a response under United States copyright law (chapters 1 through 8, and 10 through 12 of Title 17 of the United States Code) as stated by the Copyright Act of 1976.

    1. Yeah, I know, Matt. Still, we've got to protect our interests where we can.

  2. This really is interesting A.J. I have had huge hit spikes over the years, which I always believed were spam bots, but the idea that they might now be actively mining hadn't really occurred to me. May I ask where you discovered the above statement and does it matter which country you are in?

  3. Thanks - I've noticed a big uptick in traffic also. My heart tells me its all our awesome content getting the recognition it deserves! But just in case, I've also used the copyright statement. cheers!

  4. I wish it was all our excellent and informative content that's driving such huge hit totals. In a way I suppose it is, but I suspect it's all down to AIs data-mining our blogs. The first hint I saw of it was on 'Geordie's Big Battles' blog when he mentioned the phenomenon. A check on my own hit totals showed a ridiculously high number for a blog that admittedly hasn't seen much action for a couple of years. Anyone who wishes to use the copyright notice is welcome to do so - provided you're not a bloody AI bot!
